Profile: Funmi Fatona

Small but mighty best describes this young woman who’s got a large heart.

Funmi had her secondary education at A.D.R.A.O International School, Lagos, after which she proceeded to study Mass Communication at Babcock University where she graduated with First Class Honours in 2007. She also holds various certificates from Soft Skills Consulting and the Daystar Leadership Academy

After graduation from university, Funmi had her youth service at Schlumberger Nigeria Ltd, after which she worked with Verdant Zeal Marketing Communications, resigning as Deputy Manager & Head of Business Service and Brand Development Unit. She now works with STB McCann.

Asides her day job, Funmi runs her own business called Signature Scents Nigeria. According to her, Signature Scents is a premium ‘perfume shop on wheels’ that provides a wide variety of perfume and fragrance gift sets produced by almost every known international designer in the world. You name it! The company delivers these products anywhere in Nigeria for a token fee and on special occasions or holidays; gifts are wrapped and sent on request. Though the business only began trading in November 2010, Signature Scents has got 543 perfume titles and counting!

Funmi also does volunteer works for Tosyn Bucknor’s ‘these genes’ Sickle Cell Awareness project and the Real Woman Foundation which counsels and shelters emotionally wounded women, prostitutes, abandoned children and orphans. While at the university, she had volunteer experience as chief editor for Herald Magazine (Babcock University). She also worked as Lead Speaker for Sickle Cell Awareness during her National Youth Service.

I recommend you visit www.signaturescents.org or email enquiries@signaturescents.org for product pictures and selection. You could also follow her on twitter @FunmiFatona and @SignScentsOrg for constant updates, perfumes deals and good old positivity!
