PROFILE: XTsamurai
XTsamurai traces his foray into music to a musical family. Growing up
with a singing mom and multi-instrumentalist father, he gained significant
musical awareness as a child.
After an initial training in classical piano music, he started experimenting with a range of musical styles.
Finding a growing love for guitar-based music, he was drawn towards blues and rock music which he has successfully fused with his own unique style.
His rock influences have been Third Day, Linkin Park, P.O.D, Staind and System of a Down.
On the other hand, rap has also found its place in his music and he cites Eminem, Bone thugs ‘n’ Harmony and D.A. Truth as part of his rap influences.
A multi-instrumentalist, song writer and distinctive producer, he has performed at several venues within the UK and Nigeria including Sussex University(UK), the Brighton Dome(UK), the National Stadium(Nigeria), New Africa Shrine: Felabration 2011, Rock Night at Bogobiri, and has worked with several musicians behind the scenes.
With tremendous live performance experience, XTsamurai has released his single called “Closed Doors” which is a unique blend of acoustic rock fused with a distinct African feel.
He is currently
working on several projects and towards the release of his debut album which
would be made available second quarter 2012.
His new single is “Shine in my Light’ in which he features super producer Flo. The song talks about standing up for what is good while drawing strength from within.
With his kind of music XTsamurai hopes to stand tall amongst his rock counterparts and seasoned artistes to correct what seem to be societal norm; prick conscience, put smile on faces.
His personal philosophy which he reflects in his music is summarized in two words.
“Strength” and “Honour”

A TOAST TO MY CHILDHOOD
Finally! The D-Day it is -Gbolahan Sanni's
wedding. Ok, before you flip outta your skin and ask me who Gholahan is, let me
save you the trouble. He’s not an artiste or your popular Tv face but my
childhood friend- there it is.
Gist
is this piece is not about Gbolahan but was inspired by him – ok not exactly…his
wedding inspired it.
First
of my Pop took the exit to Baba God’s crib when I was quite young so MumC had
to carry the load. It was really fun, challenging and of course fun again… I
remember most especially the things we had and didn’t have but somehow they
were provided.
Anyways,
as I saw Gbolahan dance with his wife, that very act took me down memory lane…
Ilubirin
Estate situated somewhere along Third Mainland Bridge was the place and it had
become a family domain where everyone knew ‘almost ‘ what was up in each
others’ crib – More like a tush face-me-i-face-you setting. erm.. Again, not
exactly *wink.
I
remember the Tennis Court, the big swimming pool we never used, the table
tennis we created on the Well beside my house during one of dem holidays,
bicycle riding, my brother Q’s bingo dogs that were all over the place creating
some kinda sick scene, days of playing Atari, Nintendos (Super Mario bros to be
precise), Ludo, and yes playing with Ken & Barbie and of course the basket
ball court that had some other b-ballers coming into the estate to join their
friends- that reminds me- it made my brother feel he could really dunk and he
ended up creating a mini hoop on the corridor… short boi Keemy- lol* atleast u
are a fine boy.
Such
a long time and at the moment almost everyone is married with either a child or
2, some may even be expecting their first bundle of joy who knows (I said maybe
because we all are positioned in different places now-some are still within the
country while others are out and doing great…thanks to facebook info) while
someone of us will be joining the flow soonest.
Also,
some of the things I remember are Mrs. Ubakanma’s Cookies- yummy, Moyo’s power bike- i‘m so sure
most parents won’t forget that too as he went round the estate announcing his
arrival almost every day- lol, Mr. Job (of blessed memory) Baba & Mama Friday’s groundnut, our annual Christmas Party and of course Mr. Erogbogbo who we all love dearly.
Back
to Gbolahan’s wedding: I saw some of the faces I hadn’t seen in a long time
including Mrs.
Daniyan who asked the question ‘where is the ring’? I had a good time
answering – coming soon. Yeah! COMING SOON.
Also, I had fun looking at some of
those parents walk past. I knew some of them will prolly not remember me so I saved
myself the ‘oh-my God! Is that you, you are so grown now…blah blah… talk.
Ok
enough gist.
Special shout out to all dem my child hood peeps- in no particular
order o: the
Sannis, Erogbogbos, the 2 Jaiyesimis, Adeboyejos, Daniyans, Okuboyejos,
Art-Alades, Domingos, Shotomiwas, Samuels, Olusogas, Odesolas, Akintoyes,
Willougbhys, Oke-Lawals, Ojosipes, Taiwos, Somide, Ubakanmas, Emuzes, Badejos,
Ladiju, Akinsemoyin, Gaspers and the list goes on and on…sorry if u read this and your name
is missing. You guys made the world rock and of course I wasn’t close to
everyone but I remember y’all and it makes a lotta sense ‘NOW’ having had an experience
with y’all.

| Me n d dress- lol |
I
look forward to seeing everyone repping in one place soonest- maybe we could
just have Ilubirun Estate reunion where we can catch up on the good old times.
God
bless us all more and more.
Meanwhile, thanks to Keme
Musa for
the beautiful black and pink dress I wore to Gbolahan’s. I know I paid for it
but thanks all the same gurl (((HUG))).

with various Organisation
including the Redeemed Evangelical Mission (zonal Headquarters-west), RCCG
(Christ Church Parish), Ogun State Hospitals Management Board, One Management
Integrated Services and Toford International as creative director/brands
consultant before going on to start his clothing line.
He has been involved in fashion for close to
eight years working on a ready to wear line. His clothes has a western appeal
and this he says is deliberate because he sees it as a void in the industry
which needed to be filled in terms of basic clothing in general since everyone
seem to be doing the ‘African thing’.
The company aims at making each piece of
clothing as unique and reasonably priced. It has a ready to wear line called c2
which comprises of, T-shirts, Pants and accessories with a wide array of
designs which also has a vintage appeal to it. On the c2 brand, is 'my avatar',
which is the new range of limited edition tees carrying the customers’ avatar.
He says the cartoon-like representation of a person is called an avatar, so it
was just appropriate to call the range 'my avatar tees' i.e a cartoon-like
representation of the customer on the tees.
c2 also renders bespoke services for customers
who want particular fabrics and styles done. Lastly, the company makes specialized
clothing in form of costumes and corporate merchandise or memorabilia for
individuals, groups or corporate organisations.
Dayo is in charge of all designs; he supervises
all aspects of production, from the quality control to packaging.
In addition to working on his own clothing
range, he works as a Creative Director for two other labels namely; Fabuleux
which is a premium Jeans Line for high end customers and Jesu Kristi- a street
wear line inspired by the work and personality of Jesus Christ.
His role models are his father, Pastor and
Russel Simmons
